about

Originally released in December 1994 on Hott Records, UK, "Far Behind" received solid reviews yet, mild club and radio support at first. But over time garnered strong underground and collector support to become a classic.

It was the first of the collaborations between the legendary, Marshall Jefferson and Keith Thompson who was known for "Break 4 Love" & "Can't Take It" at the time. As Keith put it, "Marshall they said was Idle in London and I was wild. So, I thought the name Idle & Wild would be a cool name for our pairing."

Keith goes on to say, "Allan Russell, the A&R man at the label and his remix partner, Richard Yori did a mix that was sonically ahead of its time. That's why it still stands up and is my favorite. There are a few bum notes in the performance. It was one take and I wanted to go back and fix them but Marshall like the energy and honesty of the take so that was it."

The song still stands up today because we all have a desire to leave it all behind, to be taken away even if just for a moment in time. Like all timeless music, this song does just that.
