about

"We're Marchin" was written in 1990 and debuted at the New York/ Tamika Reggae Awards at the Manhattan Center in declaration that we who are miles away from the fight in South Africa were marching, pushing for divestment of Western corporations and the release of Nelson Mandela from 27 years of imprisonment, would do our little part in continuing to march until freedom comes in South Africa in our time.

Mandela was released and became the 1st Black leader of the country which made my song obsolete, I thought. It was never release. Neither the album. But years later I realized that a form of apartheid still exists so, maybe the song still has meaning today.

Long before there was any such thing as "Raggatone" this rhythm was already popular in the reggae genre. The drive was perfect to reproduce for this most powerful of songs.

From my 1992 album for EMI that was never completed or released. It was intended to be a ground breaking album of multi-dimensions: socio-political commentary, introspective love songs, with varied dance rhythms: reggae, hip-hop, zouk, and house, all to timelessly moved people mind, body, and soul.
